private lessons
My teaching philosophy focuses on raising the awareness and attention to detail of the student, so they can better identify problems and solutions while in the practice room. In our lessons, we will focus on developing strong fundamentals, as well as discuss musical and sound concepts. I offer online lessons as well as in person lessons in my home in Jacksonville, AL.
percussion specialties
orchestral
I've played with a number of world class orchestras including, The Fort Worth, Dallas, Atlanta, and Alabama Symphonies, as well as the National Repertory Orchestra. I am currently the principal percussionist with the Dubuque Symphony Orchestra.
marching
I have a wide range of experience teaching marching percussion. Currently the battery coordinator of The Troopers Drum and Bugle Corps, I have also worked with some of the best high school and college drum lines in Texas for over a decade.
solo/chamber
Solo and chamber repertoire help us develop our technical ability as well as develop our musical concepts and most importantly our voice on our instruments. I have years of experience and success taking students through all-state auditions, college auditions, and recitals.
drumset
I believe that a foundational knowledge of drum set is essential to musicians focusing on any aspect of percussion. The independence and coordination we gain from drum set can have a direct impact on the way we approach other instruments.
beginning
Beginning percussion is something I am very passionate about. I believe in a very detailed oriented approach to our instrument, and have helped countless students pick up sticks for the first time.
gear
At my home studio you'll play on top of the line gear including a 5.0 octave Marimba One, 4.0 octave Korogi xylophone, Adams vibraphone, Deagan round top bells, Gretsch drum set, and a large collection of snare drums, tambourines, cymbals, and other accessories.
